The posh Charity Shop

W T Gunson’s Dominic Stanger has recently advised on the acquisition of a unit on Oxford Road, Manchester, for a revolutionary new retail concept, the “posh charity shop”. The concept was to provide an upmarket charity shop, selling good quality, preloved clothing and accessories, in a fashionable environment.

Our clients Vinspired are a charity who provide volunteering opportunities for young people, helping them to gain valuable work and life skills. This can also provide valuable retail experience for their volunteers.

The unit on Oxford Road was identified as being perfect for this concept, in a busy location for students (being just a short distance from the Manchester University) and young professionals.

The acquisition was initially complicated by the listed status of the building and the outgoing tenant’s dilapidations, but the whole thing came together in the end.

Dominic was invited along to the grand opening at the beginning of February. The shop is branded as “Goodstock??? (we like what they did there!) and Vinspired hope that if successful, the idea can be rolled out to other locations around the country.
