Neville. 40 glorious years.

1974 was a memorable year for many reasons some of which I have listed below as a reminder.

Ted Heath lost a general election to Harold Wilson.

Manchester United lost 1.0 to Manchester City with a goal from Denis Law and as  a result got relegated.

Bob Latchford became the worlds most expensive footballer with his sale to Everton for £350,000.

The first McDonalds was opened in London.

Inflation was a whopping 17.2%.

A four door family car cost £999.

An unknown Tom Baker replaced John Pertwee as Doctor Who.

While all this was going on, a young rookie surveyor called Neville Phillips was starting his career at WT Gunson at their offices in Marsden Street, Manchester.  At that time Manchester was a very different place to the city we see today.  The surveying world was very different as well, before the invasion of the big international companies, it was a much more local affair.

Forty years later, we can annouce that Neville is retiring at the end of this month. He will be missed by all staff for his cheerful outlook, professionalism and caring attitude towards all he came into contact with. We all wish him well and plan to give him a good send off party.
